READING LOGS and NO HOMEWORK SLIPS

30 MINUTE READING LOGS:

Every student is expected to read at least 30 minutes daily. They can read any book, magazine, or newspaper- BUT be sure they are spending time reading and not looking at pictures. Every student has an "RC" book. This is a book from our Reading Counts program that is connected to a comprehension test. Students must complete an "RC" test at least once a week, so it is good for them to read the book at home.Children will find words they don't know. When they find a word they don't understand, PLEASE encourage them to use the Sign Language Dictionary that they have at home to look for the word. Of course, not all words have a sign, so there will be times that they won't find one. But, many times, finding the sign will make a connection and allow the child to continue to read.

Your child may read alone, with a brother or sister, parent, or friends. All time spent reading will help improve your child's reading level and ability to understand.

30 MINUTOS LEYENDO LOG: Se espera que cada estudiante lea al menos 30 minutos cada dia. Ellos pueden leer cualquier libro, revista, o periódico - PERO estar seguros que ellos pasan el tiempo leyendo y no mirando cuadros. Cada estudiante tiene un libro de "RC". If your child has not completed homework and turned it in, he/she will receive a yellow slip for you to sign and return. This is to let you know that your child is not completing important work.
